Our trip to Huddersfield, April 2016

Last April, we visited our correspondants at Newsome Highschool at Huddersfield and we had an amazing time. Here’s what we have to say about our stay:

“Oliver Twist”: Film Reviews

th

I liked this movie because it is a beautiful story, there is suspens and the actors play well. I think that this movie is moving because the scene where Bill pushes Oliver in the lake and at the end of the movie when Fagin roars because he is going to die is sad. It is also interesting because that shows us what people thought of orphans before. The most standing character is Fagin because he plays a double game because, with Bill, he says that it is necessary to kill Oliver because it is only a hooligan, but when he is with Oliver he is kind. (Written by Laura B., 3ème G)

********

I liked the movie because it showed the suffering of orphans. I find this film sad because oliver Twist is manipulated to steal food. I liked when Fagin speaks only with all his gold stolen and I did not like when Bill Sikes shoots Oliver Twist. The most moving characters are Oliver Twist and Fagin. (Written by Léo B., 3ème G)

********

I liked the movie because it is a very beautiful movie, with interesting characters. I think that the movie is moving because Oliver’s story is very sad. What I liked most is to see the evolution of Oliver and to see that in spite of his very hard life, he gave the best of him! And what I liked least is it to see him suffering. My favorite character is Oliver but for me the most striking character it is Mister Bronlow who made every effort for Oliver and who adopts him at the end. (Written by Anaïs T., 3ème E)

********

I liked this film because it’s moving with its different scenes. For example, I loved the scene in which Mr. Brownlow takes Oliver Twist in his house to take care of him, another example, when Nancy meets Mr. Brownlow to tell him where Oliver Twist is, this act is brave because it gets her to die. It’s very sad but it’s amazing. However, I hated the moment with Noah Claypol, when Oliver is unfairly punished because of Noah. In this film, I think Nancy is the outstanding character thanks to her bravery. (Written by Lucie D., 3ème E)

The castle of the damned souls

 Chapter 1

The car was in front of a huge castle overlooking the forest. Jeremy was looking for his mobile when he realised the batteries were flat.

Lynn was getting out first when the driver helped her.

She heard a long noise when the heavy oak door was opening. An old man appeared and walked down the steps. Jeremy and Lynn were approaching when the old man said: ” Follow me, I will show you your room.”. He said goodbye to the driver who left them and closed the door. The hall was vast and dark.

Lynn was climbing the stairs and was wondering if her grandfather Edmund had no cleaning woman because the ceiling was covered with cobwebs.

Chapter 2

Jeremy was walking and trying to switch on his phone. He didn’t want to go to his grandfather’s and he preferred to stay at home and play with this friends.

When they arrived at the room, Jeremy was thinking to himself if it was their room. Lynn found it perfect. Edmund left them alone: “I must go away but I will be back for dinner, at 7 o’clock. Don’t be late!” Continue reading

“The Pursuit of Happyness” film review (by Alice P., 3ème B)

my-blog

I chose The Pursuit of Happyness because it’s a very good film. I love lots of films but this one is very touching.

The Pursuit of Happyness is a dramatic film and sometimes it’s funny too. It deals with poverty in a family and happiness in life. It was directed by Gabriele Muccino. The principal actors are the father and the son, Will and Jaden Smith. It was released on 15th December, 2006 in the USA and on 31st January, 2007 in France.

This movie is based on a true story. It’s about the life of Chris Gardner. Continue reading

“Lucy” film review (by Lucie D., 3ème B)

My favorite film is Lucy. I watched this film in my home a lot of times and I love it! It’s a French film produced by Luc Besson, a very famous French director. Two important actors star in the film: Scarlett Johansson (in the role of Lucy) and Morgan Freeman. The film lasts 1 hour 26 minutes and it was released in France on 6th August, 2014. I think it’s a mixture between a science-fiction film and an action film.

The story is about a student called Lucy who, after strange circumstances, sees her intellectual capacities develop a lot. Her brain acquires unlimited powers that change her life. At one point, she will be forced, for her health, to meet a professor of Scientology (Morgan Freeman) to tell her story. Continue reading
